Adventures in Writing

This is my project for the upcoming July challenge over on Rough Trade. I'm only writing for one of the prompts in the challenge this time around, which is The Sentinel crossover/fusion. The timeline for this one is going to be some sort of mashup between the Kelvin timeline (as established in the JJ Abrams Star Trek movies) and the timeline first shown in Star Trek Discovery.

This wasn't the story I had planned to write. The one I was going to write is one I came up with for last year's challenge, that I didn't end up doing. In the end I decided to shelve that prompt and came up with this one, literally in 24 hours. I've written a couple of pre-stories that I'll probably post on AO3 at some point. For now, you can follow along and see how it goes for me. Given the year I've had, I can't promise I'll finish it before the end of the month, but I'm sure going to give it a try.

All Things Inherit on Rough Trade.

This is my second story for April's Rough Trade challenge. This time the theme is found family. I've been a Star Trek fan since childhood, but I've never written for NextGen, so this is going to be challenging for me.

Stronger in the Broken Places on AO3

This is my project for Rough Trade in November. The challenge is Alternate Universe, so this story will take place in the Mirror 'Verse. The main pairing is Jim Kirk/Nyota Uhura, though it's mostly about Jim trying to get back to his own universe.

Stranger in a Strange Land on AO3

This is my project for the November challenge at Rough Trade. As stated above, it's a Star Trek story in the Kelvin timeline. I'm being ambitious with this one, choosing to go back before canon and fix the whole damned thing (or as much as I can). The inspiration for this story is the classic Star Trek episode City on the Edge of Forever. It's one of my favorite episodes and the one that consistently ranks at or near the top of every list of best ST episodes since it first aired in 1967. I'm not rewriting that episode (this does take place in the Kelvin timeline, so theoretically it hasn't happened yet if it ever would), but I am using it as the jumping-off point for this story.

It feels a lot like I'm pantsing this one, which is uncomfortable for me, but I expect the outline to grow as I go, so I should hit my stated word goal of 50,000 words. Hopefully.
