Star Trek Fic Twofer
7/15/12 12:07 pmI live in a world where there has always been Star Trek. We used to watch it when I was a kid, and I hated it.
Really. I'm not kidding.
I hated the show—more specifically, I hated Mr. Spock. I have no idea why, except that his ears made him look vaguely sinister.
As I got older, the show grew on me. We watched it just about every night, so I practically had the whole thing memorized by the time I was a teenager. At some point, I fell in love with the show, and I've been a huge fan ever since.
In the time since, I've fallen in love with every Star Trek spinoff out there. Next Generation was the Star Trek for my… ummm… generation. When Deep Space Nine came along, we were ready for something darker, at that show delivered (plus, Avery Brooks!). Voyager was the chance to see how the rest of the galaxy lives, and Enterprise gave us the origin story we'd all been longing for. I've seen nearly every episode of each of these shows (I think I missed some at the end of Voyager's run, and I just haven't gone back to watch them yet).
When I took up writing fanfiction, it never occurred to me to write for the original Star Trek, much less the spinoffs, with the sole exception of NextGen. I started a story that I may go back and finish one day, if I can find the time (because it'll need a complete rewrite by then). I have no idea why those shows existed in a place in my mind devoid of fanfic, but they did. It wasn't until JJ Abrams did the reboot that I started to see stories of my own in Star Trek.
Now, I've only written a few ST2009 stories, but I've posted the ones I've completed. This year, I set about finishing the work-in-progress ones, just so they're no longer mocking me from my hard drive.
I also have a couple of Star Trek: Enterprise stories hanging around. I've posted one, which I'm listing here because I only posted it last week. The others are nearly finished, and I just have to find the time to write what's left. I'll do it one day because I hate having incomplete stories on my hard drive.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the ones I've posted already. As always, I'll update when I post more.

on 7/27/12 04:11 pm (UTC)Star Trek 2009 turned me into a fan... I always used to watch ST:TOS and make fun of it. Now I'm like "OMG! This is ground breaking AWESOMENESS RIGHT HERE!!!!"
Funny how that happens.
I've got your 2009 fic open (I have never seen anything other than TOS stuff) and will read it at some point today. Do you ahve other posted? I thought you said you did in this post but I may have misinterpreted out of sheer greed and wanting. LOL.

on 7/27/12 05:50 pm (UTC)All my Star Trek stuff is on AO3, so if you go to my profile (click here), all you have to do is click on the Star Trek 2009 fandom link and you'll be there. There are only three so far. I have a couple of more that I need to finish (one that'll take a major rewrite because I'm not satisfied with it at this point), so I promise to post them when they're finished.
In the meantime, enjoy what's there!
