Well, I haven't quite caught up on posts of stories I've posted in the last few months, but I thought I'd better at least do a post for the story I published today.

This story is one of those better late than never stories. I saw The Avengers last Christmas (I know, I know), while I was babysitting my nephew. I was absolutely blown away. The effects, the story, all the Avengers. It was a-ma-zing.

So, of course Muse gets involved, because it's not a good movie or show if she's not weighing in with an idea or three. I so didn't need another fandom, but Muse hardly cares about that. So, here we go with Avengers stories.

This story is post-movie, for obvious reasons. It's about how Clint is dealing—or not dealing, as the case may be—with the aftermath of his brainwashing and the battle for Manhattan (and by extension, Coulson's death). I based Clint's thoughts and feelings in this story on the scene in the helicarrier just after he's had his brain reset.

His comments to Natasha made me think of just how he'd react to the whole thing. Basically, I think he'd react one of two ways: either he'd be eaten alive by the guilt, or he'd accept that he wasn't in control of his actions and try to put it behind him. I went with the former, in this case, but I may still write the latter at some point. Muse has an idea, but we'll see if it develops any further than that.

Anyway, the other reason for this story, of course, is that Coulson lives is now canon. I was beyond gleeful when I read that, and while putting Phil in this story hadn't been part of the plan when I started it, he just sort of turned up. I'm not at all bothered by that, I just didn't expect to be writing a fix-it story. But, as I said, Coulson lives, so I can't complain.

I hope you enjoy the story.
