I checked the date on my last post before I started this one, and promptly hung my head.

I suck at updating, apparently. That's totally on me, because I haven't yet developed the habit of posting to this blog every time I post a story online somewhere. I had every intention of doing so, but somehow that just hasn't happened.

Part of the reason that I haven't been posting is that I went back to work after a two-year hiatus. I was redeployed from my last job (that's a fancy word for laid off, by the way), and for a long time I just didn't even look for a new job. I took time off to spend with my family, including the world's most adorable nephew, born a year ago. But the time came to go back to work, and I found a contract job at my old company, so I went back. I figured it'd be a great way to get back into the swing of working after being off for two years. It's just a three month job, but they're making noises about keeping me, so we'll see.

All of that to say that, now that I'm working, I have considerably less time to write, and less time to spend with my family. So, something had to give, and unfortunately this was it. I'm still writing when I can, but my word count has dropped ridiculously low, which is killing me. And now that all my Numb3rs and Grimm stories have been moved to Archive of Our Own, I find I spend even less time on LiveJournal than I did before.

Still, that's no excuse, and for that I do apologize. I'm going to fix it, though. Over the next few days, you're going to see several posts go up, with notes about the stories I've written and posted over the last two (TWO!) months. There haven't been many, but I did release a semi-epic Grimm story that probably deserves some love and definitely deserves some notes. Once that's done, I plan to get back into the habit of posting every time I release a story. And, maybe I'll even post the occasional non-fic related post. Now, wouldn't that be a red letter day?

So, thanks for being patient with me and know that I appreciate it.

Thank you! It's nice to be back among the living, actually. I went shopping with my Mom for the first time in...way longer than I'd actually like to admit to...and it felt so good. I couldn't stop smiling!

YAY for new jobs and such!!! It really does take a chunk out of your writing time but writing is also a nice distraction sometimes from the job. When I'm working in the lab, I'm trying to tell myself stories to pass the time. Some of them get written... some don't. But either way, it's always fun.

:)

Good to read you on here!! I have bookmarked your fics you posted recently. I will get to them. I'm trying to answer personal posts first since I haven't been in here in a month.

Yeah, I found that going back to work sucked some of my inspiration out the window. If I'd known that was going to happen, I'd have stayed home (except that Dad was getting antsy--apparently, he was done with me staying home). Still, I find that when there's a lull at work, I can write a little and not feel (too) guilty.

I know you have limited bandwidth--probably less than I do--so I appreciate that you plan to catch up at some point when life isn't kicking your ass quite so hard. I look forward to hearing back from you as you get the time to catch up.
