Rough Trade Project - The Stars, Our Destiny (Star Trek)

This is my project for Nano on Rough Trade. It isn't the story I thought I'd be writing when the theme for this year was revealed. I was all set to write a Sentinel/Guide story and had even started doing the research for it, including reading the book (which I hadn't done in years). Alas, when it came time to actually start writing the outline... I just couldn't go there. It's not that I don't love the idea, because I do. I've salted it away and will probably bring it out for the next Little Black Dress challenge. It's more that I recognized that, with the world being as it is right now, I needed to write something a little more hopeful and a little less fraught. And I think that's what people need to read right now, too.

So, this is a Star Trek story from the Kelvin Timeline. Except I've cast Anson Mount from Star Trek: Discovery as Christopher Pike. This is also a Rule 63 story, so the main pairing will be Chris Pike/Eleanor McCoy (a gender-swapped Leonard McCoy). This is also a shifter universe, one I've been toying around with for years, though mostly it's a pile of research and very little that's actually published.
