Grimm/Warehouse 13 Crossover Fic: Artifact Retrieval, Grimm Style

This is where my geek cred really comes in handy.

Until about a year ago, I'd never given a second thought to writing a crossover between two shows I love. I never read them, either, to be fair. I had a list of favorite shows, and I watched them religiously, but they never, ever mixed.

Unless the producers decided to do a crossover episode. And even then, everyone went back to their own sandbox and pretended like it had never happened.

But then my eyes were opened to the wonders of crossovers. I won't bore you with the details, but suffice it to say that now my Muse regularly peppers me with what ifs. What if so-and-so visited such-and-such a place? What would happen if you mixed this with that?

Now, even I realize that I have an eclectic list of shows I watch. Science fiction shows sit beside criminal procedurals on my DVR, and romance and fantasy live side-by-side on my bookshelves. I love James Patterson and Jane Austen. So, when I get an idea for a crossover, sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one that'll ever read it.

I have no idea who else in this world will enjoy a Grimm/Warehouse 13 crossover, but this story just begged to be written. I got the idea from a Grimm Kink Meme post (read the original post here). The original post called for Artie and Claudia retrieving the coins in the Portland PD parking garage. That didn't really appeal to me, but Pete and Myka retrieving the coins did, so I wrote that instead. Thus, I won't be posting this at the kink meme, because it's not a true fill and I don't want to disappoint the original poster by posting something that's not what they asked for.

So, if ever two shows were ripe for crossing over, it's these two. They both deal with the supernatural, and both have objects that do things outside the norm. I don't know if I'll ever do another story with these two shows, but I've left myself open to the possibility.

This is the first time I've ever written for Warehouse 13, so I hope my characterizations of Pete, Myka and Artie aren't too far off. Oddly, I found Nick's voice to the hardest to capture in this story. And even though it's just over 2,000 words, it took me over a week to get it just the way I wanted it. I blame it on the fact that I've never written WH13 before.

So, I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it.
